It’s kind of interesting how the beauty of this bird during breeding season drove people to to kill and collect their feathers to the point where they were almost extinct. However, that very same beauty is likely what fueled conservation movements that have allowed these birds to flourish today. This is one of my favorite photos of Great Egret showing off during a rainy day.
