Roseate Spoonbill
Its no wonder how this bird obtained its name. This spoonbill was photographed sifting its spoon-shaped bill in tidal pools made by the low tide on the Kiawah River, SC. The rosette pigmentation typically comes from the consumption of shrimp. This spoonbill seems keen on strengthening its coloration.
